Artist Statement

It's not easy living in our bodies on this Earth. Sometimes the heaviness of life stress, responsibilities, and challenges seem to work against us. When I began my education in Massage Therapy and Reiki in 2000 I had no idea how much this knowledge would change my life. For the first time I felt a calming inside. As a Dancer, I spent much of my time in awareness of my body through movement. Even as a Musician, focusing on posture for singing, playing the violin and piano were important. But it wasn't until receiving Bodywork and into my studies that my body awareness shifted to acceptance, forgiveness and gratitude.

In my journey as a Visual Artist and Mother, I constantly find myself searching for balance. Devoting time to the Art Making Process is incredibly gratifying and a powerful tool for enlightenment. Much of my work deals with self identity. With that said, my goal is to always work with trust in the process and a respect for the integrity of the result. Creating Art allows me to unfold, unravel and release aspects of myself that would otherwise have no outlet. I am inspired by the Earth, the rhythm of my body and the expansion of love in my life. I believe producing Art is an opportunity for growth and realization. Therefore, I focus on breathing, being in the moment and responsive with my work.
